Google Classroom makes teaching a more productive and meaningful experience for teachers and students. It does this by allowing you to hold classes, distribute projects, and provide feedback—all within the platform. Google users can also integrate their Google Docs and Google Drive accounts into its system to store their files in a cloud.
What is Google Classroom?
Google Classroom stands out from other learning management systems or student information platforms as it combines all G Suites tools in an intuitive interface for its users. Teachers can benefit from this software as it allows them to monitor their students and organize their output. As a teacher, you can do this in the platform’s two notable sections: Students and Stream.
The Students section helps you to connect with your students. You can choose to either manually enter each of their Google email addresses or the students can join the class with a Google email. Should you do the latter, it is important to provide them with the class code. The Stream section allows you to post assignments, announcements, and questions for your students.
You’ll spend most of your time here once all your students have entered the group. Its most notable capability is creating homework and projects. Each post can include the assignment’s topic, instructions, and due date. The unique Google Classroom code is located on the left side of the group’s page.
How do you enter Google Classroom?
Students must type this in code so they can enter the group. By default, teachers are the only members of the group who can post in the group. To change this, head to the Student section to allow students to comment, post questions, and send assignments.
The program will take note of the date and make sure to accept all the assignments. Students that turn in assignments late will be automatically marked as overdue. You can also attach files to the assignments you create. For example, you can attach a link that redirects to a news article. This can serve as a writing assignment for your students.
Files can be sourced from your hard drive, Google Drive, YouTube, and other links related to education and reference. Students can attach their work on the post as a Google Doc or as a DOCX file. You can open them directly in the Classroom and grade them every time your device is connected to the internet.

As a teacher, you can see which students are actively participating in the class and provide direct real-time feedback to each pupil. In addition, you’re able to use your time more productively, as students are able to submit their work electronically.
